It is a volcanic ash, or bentonite clay, deposited in sea water 150 million years ago. Redmond Clay is marketed in its natural state with no additives, chemicals, or preservatives. The only processing it goes through is crushing and screening.
External Uses To use Redmond Clay externally, mix it with water to create a gel with a mustard-like consistency. Then, apply the gel or paste directly onto the skin for a drawing effect. If not covered, the clay will dry out and as it dries, you will feel it draw and pull. For a tightening effect, leave it on until it is almost, but not totally dry, then remove. If a more cooling and soothing effect is desired, cover the gel with a plastic covering or wet cloth. To remove the clay pack, wash it off with water and a gentle rubbing motion. Do not reuse the clay pack. It can also be used as talcum powder or diapering powder.
Pre-mixed Ready to Use Gel Mix two parts water with one part Redmond Clay to make a gel or mud. It should have the consistency of mustard. Store the gel in a covered, non-metallic container to prevent drying out. If it does dry out over prolonged storage, simply add water and remix.
Redmond Clay is now available in a fresh new look. Previously, Redmond products did not look like they came from the same family, but that has now changed. Safe for Sensitive Skin, Redmond Clay has been used for thousands of years for a variety of purposes. It can be used for face masks, detox baths, as a topical paste, body powder, moisture control, and many other uses.
Source Redmond Clay is derived directly from a clay deposit controlled by the company. It is sourced locally in the USA, meaning it has a smaller carbon footprint. Additionally, the company's operations in Redmond, Utah are almost entirely powered by solar energy.
